Mediterranean Ports and Shipping 2022

Baltic Rail was delighted to take part in the Mediterranean Ports and Shipping Conference in Portoroz between 24 and 26 May 2022. Colleagues representing all transport contributors discussed new ideas and the challenges facing supply chains in the current political and economic climate.

We were provided with a tour of the Port of Koper – full with many types of cargo. Future plans for infrastructure expansion and capacity increases were also explained. A visit to a conservation region adjacent to the Port was also enjoyed.

Stephen Archer made a presentation which discussed modal shift to rail – benefitting from more economic energy efficiency  – at a time of higher market prices and a democratic demand for a shift to greener solutions. The generous hospitality of the Adriatic hosts and the warm Spring weather made the whole event one to remember!
